Safe & Well DBT

Safe & Well DBT facilitates transformation through emotional intelligence skill building. This transformation results in more effective functioning and the ability to cope with stress while guiding diverse individuals to success.

As a licensed psychotherapist in California and her native Costa Rica, Itzel has a strong foundation in cross-cultural responsive therapy. She leverages her experience as a multicultural and multilingual clinician in her interaction with diverse populations. In particular, Itzel is drawn to working with individuals who struggle to function effectively as a result of their mental health challenges.

Through her work with mid to high-level managers and leaders, Itzel excels in dismantling often overlooked barriers to change, such as language obstacles, emotional processing diversity, cultural differences, neurodivergence, and the intersection of private and professional identities.

Itzel is a pioneer in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), being one of few Latin American therapists certified in DBT. She obtained her master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Southern California (USC) and has spent 20 years in health and safety leadership roles in corporate and academic environments.

"37% of respondents feel HR prioritizes company advocacy over employee support. Employees are hesitant to share concerns about culture or morale, including interpersonal conflicts and communication from leaders, leaving HR unaware of these issues."-

-Harvard Business Review

SafetyWell aims to bring together workplace culture and safety performance into one comprehensive solution. We offer an alternative to HR-driven culture transformation activities.

We are committed to a paradigm shift that equally emphasizes both health and safety. By adopting a more holistic and integrated perspective, we aim to address worker well-being more comprehensively, rather than primarily concentrating on safety while neglecting overall employee health.

Real transformation in the health and safety culture of an organization requires a combination of two key factors: effective health & safety programs and a healthy workplace culture. Trust in health and safety services can lead to a number of benefits, including improved compliance, higher productivity, positive workplace culture, and better employee retention.
